The short version: Clementine keeps track of who owes whom. It never moves money, and the numbers are only as right as what people put in.

The agreement

Clementine is an app made by Pikeworks, a sole trader in Northern Ireland. By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not, please uninstall it.

What Clementine is

Clementine records shared bills and payments and works out who owes whom. It does not hold, send or receive money. When you settle up, it can open another app such as PayPal or your bank with the amount filled in, and that payment is between you, the other person and that service. Recording a payment in Clementine only notes that it happened.

Free, and Plus

Clementine is free, with no limit on groups or bills and no adverts. Clementine Plus is a one-off purchase through Google Play or the App Store that adds extras such as reading receipts line by line, spending breakdowns and exports. There is no subscription. Refunds go through the store you bought it from, under its rules.

Your groups

Everyone in a group can add, change and delete its bills and payments, and every change shows who made it. Only add people who have agreed to share bills with you, and only add their email address or number if they are happy for you to. Do not use Clementine to harass anyone or to break the law. I may remove content or accounts that do.

Comments on bills are seen by everyone in the group, so keep them civil: nothing abusive, hateful, threatening or sexual. Anyone in a group can delete a comment. Tap a comment to report it to me. I read every report and remove what breaks these terms, usually within a day.

Anyone with a group's invite link can see the group and join it, so share it only with the people it is for.

Accounts

If you use Clementine without signing in, your groups live on your phone, and on the server once you share them. Without a sign-in or a recovery key there is no way back to them if the phone is lost, so make a recovery key or sign in. Keep your recovery key private: anyone who has it can open your account.

Availability and liability

Clementine is provided as it is. I work to keep the server running and your data safe, but I cannot promise it will always be available. Check the numbers before you pay anyone. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, Pikeworks is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for money paid or not paid between users, and any liability is limited to what you paid for Clementine Plus.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in the EU, you keep the protections of your own local law.
