Lantern Lake
In development
Fishing by lantern light.
Row out on still water as the lanterns come on, and cast a line. Lantern Lake is a quiet pixel-art fishing game for phones, with 120 real fish across ten waters, a harbour to bring back to life, and no rush to any of it.
Android and iPhone
Not out yet. It will be free, with a £5.99 unlock for the full game, on Google Play and the App Store. Email me and I'll let you know when it is.
What it does
What there is to do.
-
Ten waters
A lake, a harbour, a river and a marsh, a mountain tarn that freezes in winter, a kelp bay, a sea cave, a warm island reef, the deep, and a secret pool. Each has its own fish.
-
120 real fish
Every one looks like the real fish, and each keeps its own hours. Some bite only in the rain, some only in the deep, some only in winter, and a few only on the strangest nights of the year. Then there are the legendary ones.
-
A harbour to bring back
Give what you catch to restore a quiet harbour in twelve projects, from the tackle shop and the cafe to the boatyard and the lighthouse. Eight villagers live there, and some of them know where the big ones hide.
-
Between bites
Cook what you catch, set pots for crabs and lobsters, stock an aquarium and decorate your cabin. Messages in bottles wash up with clues that lead to a secret pool.
-
Seasons and nights out
Days, weather and seasons turn as you play. There is a derby in spring, a fair on the ice in winter, and Lantern Night, when the whole town floats its lanterns on the water.
-
One thumb, or none
Hold to reel, and lift when the fish runs. Gentle and Auto reeling are there if you just want to relax, or the angler can fish by itself. Play it upright with one hand, or sideways to see more of the water.
