Privacy policy

Compute Capitalist is made by Pikeworks, a sole trader in Northern Ireland. This is what the game keeps, what leaves your phone, and who it goes to.

What stays on your phone

Your save is kept in the game's own storage on your phone: your businesses, managers, upgrades, investors, achievements, stats and settings. There's no Compute Capitalist account, so your save is never sent to me or anyone else.

A save code is only made when you tap to make one, and it goes wherever you paste it.

Adverts

The game has one kind of advert: a short video you choose to watch for a reward, such as four hours of double profit. An advert only plays when you tap Watch, and every Watch button says what the reward is first. There are no banners and no adverts that play on their own.

The adverts come from Google AdMob. Where the law asks for it (the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, and some US states), Google's consent message asks you before any advert is requested, and you can change your answer at any time from Advert privacy choices in Settings. If you don't agree to personalised adverts, you can still watch adverts that aren't personalised.

When an advert is requested or shown, Google receives your phone's advertising ID, your IP address (which gives a rough idea of where you are), which adverts you saw and tapped, and technical details about the phone and the app. Google uses them to choose and measure adverts and to stop fraud. How Google uses that is set out at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.

If you buy Boosts Without Adverts, the advert software is never started on your phone and nothing is sent to Google for adverts.

Purchases

Everything for sale is optional and is paid for through Google Play or the App Store, which handle the payment. I never see your name, your email address or your card.

Purchases are checked and kept track of by RevenueCat, a company in the United States, so that what you buy arrives once and can be restored on a new phone. RevenueCat receives a random identifier made for this game (not your name or your Google account), what you bought, when, the price and currency, and the store's receipt. Its privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Feedback you send

Feedback is only sent when you tap Send. It contains what you type, your email address if you choose to give one so I can write back, and a screenshot of the game if you leave "Include screenshot" on (you can see it, and draw on it, before you send). So I don't have to ask, it also carries the game's version, whether you're on Android or iPhone, the model of phone and its system version, the screen size and language, where you were in the game, and a short summary of your progress (such as your rank and how far each sector has got).

It goes to the Pikeworks feedback service, which runs on Cloudflare and keeps what you send in the European Union; Cloudflare is a company in the United States. Your IP address is used to stop abuse and is never stored. A copy of the message and the screenshot is posted to a private Discord channel that only I can read, so I see it on my phone straight away; Discord is a company in the United States. Feedback is kept until it has been dealt with, and deleted within six months after that, screenshot and Discord copy included. You can ask for yours to be deleted sooner using the address below.

Analytics

There are no analytics, no tracking of how you play and no crash reporting in the game.

Notifications

If you allow them, the game can remind you that your businesses have been earning while you were away. It asks once you've hired your first manager, not when you first open it. The reminder is scheduled on the phone. Nothing is sent from a server.

Permissions

The game doesn't ask for your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos. The screenshot for feedback is of the game only, taken inside the game.

Children

Compute Capitalist is meant for people aged 13 and over, and isn't aimed at children.

Deleting your information

Settings in the game has a reset that wipes your save. Uninstalling the game deletes everything it stored on your phone. Anything you have bought stays yours and comes back with Restore purchases. To have feedback you sent deleted, or to ask RevenueCat to delete your purchase records, email me and I'll do it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to how it is used, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. For adverts, Google is responsible for what it collects, and the consent choices above are the way to control it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the new version replaces this one. If the game ever starts sending anything new, this policy is updated before that version goes out.
