Email fillo@pikeworks.co.uk. I read every one myself, so please say which phone you are on and which version of the app you have. The version is shown in Settings, where you can also send feedback without leaving the app.
Common questions
A price is wrong. How do I report it?
Open the station, tap Report a problem, then Wrong price, and pick the fuel. Other drivers see a badge on that price straight away. A report never changes an official price, though.
To get it fixed at the source, tap Get it fixed at the source after your report. Fillo opens the government's own form, with a card showing what it asks for (the station's name, address and postcode, the time, and what is wrong) so you can copy it across.
UK retailers have to report a price change to Fuel Finder within 30 minutes, and Fillo checks for changes every few minutes, so most prices are right. A price can still be wrong when a retailer is late, types it wrongly, or the pump and the sign disagree.
In the Republic, add the right price, or answer No when Fillo asks if the price is still the same.
Why is a station missing?
First, check the row at the bottom of the list that says how many stations are hidden by your choices. Tap it to see them. Then check How far you'll go in Your choices.
In the UK, Fillo shows every station that reports to Fuel Finder. Stations that have closed for good are left out, and a station that has not started reporting cannot be shown until it does.
In the Republic, the station list comes from OpenStreetMap. If a station is missing or in the wrong place, anyone can add or fix it at openstreetmap.org, and Fillo picks the change up within a week. Or email me and I will look.
What does "Price set 3 days ago" mean?
It is when the station last changed that price, as the retailer reported it. It is not when anyone last checked it. A station that keeps the same price for a week keeps the same time, and the price is still right, so Fillo never moves a station down the list for an old time alone.
"Checked 14:02" is when Fillo last heard from Fuel Finder. If that time is old, your phone is offline or the feed is late, and Fillo shows the last prices it has with a note saying how old they are.
How does Fillo rank stations?
Best value works out what a fill really costs: the price times your fill size, plus the fuel you burn driving there and back, from your car's rough miles per gallon. It then says it plainly, such as "Saves £1.80 after a 3 mile drive". Set your fill size and miles per gallon in Your choices.
Drive distances are estimated by road, and go round loughs, estuaries and firths by the nearest crossing, not straight across the water.
Cheapest sorts by price alone, and Nearest by distance.
A few stations go to the bottom of the list, always with the reason shown: one that is closed now or closes before you would get there, one that two drivers have reported closed or out of your fuel, one whose price is far out of line with the stations around it, and one that has not changed its price while prices nearby moved 3p or more. No station can pay for a better place.
Why do prices in the Republic come from drivers?
The Republic of Ireland has no official price feed, so drivers add prices at the pump. Each price says New when one driver has added it, and Confirmed when a second agrees within 48 hours. Prices turn grey after 4 days and go after 14. "Drivers disagree" means two drivers gave prices more than 3c apart.
Where nobody has added a price yet, Fillo shows the typical price in Ireland that week, from the EU Weekly Oil Bulletin.
To add a price, open the station while you are there (within 500 metres) and tap Add the price.
Near the border, stations in Northern Ireland show their official prices in pounds and euros, side by side with the Republic's prices.
How do I hide supermarkets?
Open Your choices and, under Anything you'd rather skip?, switch on Supermarkets. You can skip Motorway services and any brand near you the same way. Fillo still gives you one ranked list of everything else, and says how many stations are hidden, with one tap to show them.
Supermarket fuel meets the same standards as any other. Skipping it is only your preference, and it is off unless you choose it.
How do alerts work on a watch?
Fillo has no watch app. Instead, every alert is written to make sense in one glance: the first line is the fuel and the price, and the second is the station, its town, how much it dropped and when it closes, such as "Diesel 142.9p" and "Maxol, Lisburn. 3p cheaper than yesterday. Open till 22:00."
Your phone passes alerts to your watch as it does any other notification. An iPhone sends them to Apple Watch while the phone is locked. An Android phone sends them to a Wear OS watch through the watch's own app on the phone.
Set alerts in Alerts: when your favourite stations drop their price, or when fuel near home falls below a price you choose. You get at most one alert a day for each rule, and never in your quiet hours. An alert that cannot reach you within about two hours is dropped rather than arriving late, and on Android it clears itself once it is that old. Tapping an alert on a watch may not open anything, so open Fillo on your phone to get directions.
How do I restore Plus on a new phone?
Open Settings and tap Restore purchases, signed in to the same Google or Apple account you bought Plus with. Plus is one payment, with no subscription. The store shows the price where you are.
How do I change which sat nav opens?
Open Settings, then Sat nav app, and pick another. Fillo lists the ones installed on your phone.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings, then Delete my data. It erases everything the Fillo server holds for your copy of the app straight away: your alerts, your push token, your reports and the link to any price you added. It also clears your choices and settings on the phone. Uninstalling the app removes everything on your phone. The privacy policy has the detail.
