Terms of use

The short version: the app is free and has no adverts, your log and your marks live on your phone, and friends are optional and off until you turn them on.

The agreement

Fish Vault is an app made by Pikeworks, a sole trader in Northern Ireland. By installing it you agree to these terms. If you don't, please uninstall it.

What you get

The app is free to use. You can use it on any device you own. You can't sell it, take it apart to pass off as your own, or use it to break the law.

Fishing

Fish Vault is a record, not advice. It doesn't know the rules of the water you are on. Close seasons, size limits, bag limits, licences and a fishery's own rules are yours to follow. Weather in the app is a forecast service's view of the area, not a safety warning, and a weight worked out from a length is an estimate for an average fish, not a scale reading.

Purchases

Fish Vault Pro is a one-off payment, not a subscription. It's handled by Google Play or the App Store, so the store takes the payment and its own terms apply to it. What you've bought stays bought and comes back with Restore purchases on a phone signed in to the same store account. Refunds are the store's to give, and your rights as a consumer are unaffected.

Your log

Everything you log is kept on your phone. Settings has Back up everything, Restore from a backup and Export as a spreadsheet, and all three are free and always will be. Charging someone to get their own records out would be a poor way to behave.

Friends, if you turn them on

Vault Social is off until you switch it on, and the app works fully without it. If you do turn it on you get a handle and a device key rather than an email address and a password, and the community rules apply to anything you post. Break them and the account can be removed. You can delete it yourself at any time, in the app or from the delete page.

Availability and liability

The app is provided as it is. Maps and weather come from outside services that can be slow or unavailable, and the app carries on without them. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, and your statutory rights as a consumer aren't affected. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, Pikeworks isn't liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data or lost records, and any liability is limited to what you've paid for purchases in the twelve months before the claim.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in the EU, you keep the protections of your own local law.
