Privacy policy
Last updated 13 October 2026.
Lantern Lake is made by Pikeworks, a sole trader in Northern Ireland. It is a fishing game you play on your phone. Only two things ever leave the phone: feedback, when you choose to send it, and the checks the store makes for the one purchase.
Your saved game
Your progress and your settings are saved on your phone, inside the game. There is no Lantern Lake account, so I never see your save, how far you have got or how long you have played, except for the short summary that goes with any feedback you send.
What Lantern Lake collects
Nothing by itself. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, no adverts and no tracking of any kind, and it plays offline.
Feedback you send
The game's menu has a feedback form. Nothing is sent until you tap Send. It contains what you write, your email address only if you add one so I can write back, and a picture of the game screen if you tick "Send a picture of the water as it is now". The picture is the game's own scene, never the menus over it or anything else on your phone.
So I don't have to write back and ask, it also carries the game's version and build, whether you're on Android or iPhone, the model of phone and its system version, the screen size and language, and where you are in the game: which water and spot, the game day, how many kinds of fish you have found and how many you have caught, whether the full game is unlocked, and whether the phone is upright or sideways.
It goes to the Pikeworks feedback service, which runs on Cloudflare and keeps what you send in the European Union; Cloudflare is a company in the United States. Your IP address is used to stop abuse and is never stored. A copy of the message and the picture is posted to a private Discord channel that only I can read, so I see it on my phone straight away; Discord is a company in the United States. Feedback is kept until it has been dealt with, and deleted within six months after that, picture and Discord copy included. You can ask for yours to be deleted sooner using the address below.
Buying the full game
The full game is one purchase of £5.99, made through Google Play or the App Store, whichever you got the game from, and paid for there. RevenueCat, a payments service, checks the receipt so the full game can be restored on a reinstall or a new phone. It receives an anonymous app user ID and the purchase receipt, never your name or email address. I never see your name, email address or card details. RevenueCat's policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
The game asks the store, through RevenueCat, at three moments: when it shows you the price, when you buy or restore, and each time it starts until you own the full game, to see whether your store account has already bought it. That last one is how a new phone opens the full game by itself.
Pictures of the water
The menu's "Take a picture of the water" button makes a picture of the game's scene and opens your phone's own share sheet, where you choose what happens to it: save it, send it to someone, or nothing. The game never sends it anywhere itself. On iPhone, the first time you save one to your photos, the phone asks whether Lantern Lake may add to your photo library. That lets it add pictures, never look at the ones you have.
Permissions
- Internet, on Android, used only to send feedback when you tap Send and for the purchase checks above.
- Vibration, on Android, for the small taps when a fish bites, pulls or comes in. You can turn them down or off under Vibration in the game's menu.
- Google Play billing, on Android, for the one purchase.
- Add to your photos, on iPhone, asked for only when you save a picture of the water.
It asks for nothing else: no location, no contacts, no microphone and no camera, and it cannot read your photos.
Children
Lantern Lake collects nothing from anyone unless they choose to send feedback, and giving an email address with it is optional. The purchase goes through Google Play or the App Store, which have their own controls for children, such as asking a parent first.
Deleting your information
Everything Lantern Lake keeps is on your phone, and uninstalling the game removes it from the phone. I do not hold a copy. Owning the full game is recorded by the store and RevenueCat against your store account, with no name or email attached, so that it can be restored. Feedback you have sent is deleted on request: email the address below.
Your rights
Lantern Lake has no account, so the only thing of yours that can reach me is feedback you send. Under UK GDPR you can ask me for a copy of it, to correct it or to delete it, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. The purchase records that Google, Apple and RevenueCat keep are covered by their own policies.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the new version replaces this one. If Lantern Lake ever needed to send anything else anywhere, this page would say so before that version went out.
