Pagebench is made by Pikeworks, a sole trader in Northern Ireland. It works on your files inside your phone. Nothing is sent to me or to anyone else.
Your files
When you open a PDF or a photo in Pagebench, or scan a page, the work happens on your phone. The files it makes are kept in its Library, on your phone, until you delete them. There is no Pagebench account and no Pagebench server, so I never see your files, their names or what is in them.
A file leaves your phone only when you choose to send it somewhere yourself, for example with Share, Save to Files or Save to folder. Where it goes then is up to you and the app you send it to.
What Pagebench collects
Nothing. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, no adverts and no tracking of any kind. On Android the app does not have permission to use the internet at all, and on iPhone it never makes a connection.
Passwords
When you lock a PDF, the password is used on your phone to encrypt the file and is not stored. When you type a password to open a locked file, Pagebench remembers it only until you close the app, so it does not ask twice. It is never written to storage. I cannot recover a password you have forgotten.
Signatures
A signature you draw is saved on your phone so you can use it again. You can delete it in the Sign tool by holding it.
Permissions
- Camera, on iPhone, only while you scan. On Android the scanner is part of Google Play services on your phone and Pagebench does not ask for the camera itself.
- Add to Photos, on iPhone, only if you save pages as pictures to your photo library.
- Files and photos are picked with your phone's own pickers, so Pagebench never has access to the rest of your storage or your photo library.
Scanning on Android
The scanner on Android is Google's document scanner, which runs on your phone inside Google Play services. The first time it is used, Google Play services may download the scanner by itself. That download is between your phone and Google; Pagebench takes no part in it and sends nothing. Google Play services may also send Google its own diagnostics about the scanner, such as how long a scan took, under Google's privacy policy. It does not send your pages. Pagebench cannot send Google or anyone else anything, because on Android it has no permission to use the internet.
Buying the app
Pagebench is paid for once, through Google Play or the App Store. They handle the payment and tell me only the totals I need for accounts and tax. I never see your name, email address or card details.
Children
Pagebench is not aimed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone.
Deleting your information
Everything Pagebench keeps is on your phone. Delete a file from its screen, delete everything under Settings, Delete every file, or uninstall the app. I do not hold a copy of anything.
Your rights
Because nothing reaches me, there is nothing for me to look up, correct or hand over. Under UK GDPR you can still ask me any question about it, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the new version replaces this one. If Pagebench ever needed to send anything anywhere, this page would say so before that version went out.
