Terms of use
Last updated 12 October 2026.
The short version: the app is free, the AI is an optional subscription, its advice is only advice, and an account and friends are optional and off until you choose them.
The agreement
Plant Vault is an app for Android phones and iPhones, made by Pikeworks, a sole trader in Northern Ireland. By installing it you agree to these terms. If you don't, please uninstall it.
What you get
The app is free. You can use it for your own garden, at home or at work, on any device you own. You can't sell it, take it apart to pass off as your own, or use it to break the law.
Plant Vault AI
Plant Vault AI is an optional subscription, bought through Google Play on Android or the App Store on an iPhone. The store shows the price and any free trial in the app before you buy. It renews until you cancel it, which you do in the store you bought it from; on an iPhone that is your Apple Account's subscriptions, at least 24 hours before it renews. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and the part you've paid for runs to the end of its period. Google or Apple handles refunds under its own policy. You must be 18 or over to use it.
There's a fair use allowance of 300 AI messages a month, which is well above normal use. If you reach it, the app tells you when it resets, and everything else keeps working.
Advice is advice
Plant Vault, including its care guide, its problem finder and its AI, gives general gardening suggestions. It can be wrong. Plants, soil and weather vary, and a photo can be misread. Don't rely on it to decide whether a plant, fruit or fungus is safe to eat or touch, whether a plant is poisonous to a child or an animal, or how to use a chemical. Check the label, and ask a professional where it matters. I'm not responsible for what a plant does next.
Your records
Your records are yours. They live on your phone, in your own Google Sheet if you link one, and, while you're signed in to a Pikeworks account, in a private cloud copy you can bring back on a new phone. Keep your own copy as well: Settings has an export. Without an account I don't hold a copy, so I can't restore anything for you.
Your Pikeworks account
You don't need an account to use Plant Vault. If you make one, it's one sign-in for every Vault app, and it isn't for anyone under 13. Keep your way of signing in to yourself: don't share your password or a sign-in code, and sign out of the app when you finish on a phone you share. You can delete the account at any time, in the app or from the delete page, and your garden on your phone stays where it is.
An account used to get round a block or a suspension, to pretend to be someone else, or to attack or overload the service can be closed.
Friends, if you turn them on
Friends is off until you switch it on, it needs a Pikeworks account, and the app works fully without it. The community rules are part of these terms. The app asks you to agree to them before you choose a handle, and again whenever they change. They say what isn't allowed, how Block and Report work, what happens when something breaks them, and how to ask for a second look.
What you share stays yours. By sharing it you let Pikeworks store it and show it to the people you shared it with, for as long as it's shared, and only to run friends. You can delete anything you've shared at any time.
If something you share breaks the rules, it can be taken down, and friends can be switched off for your account for 7 days, 30 days or for good. Your own garden, and the rest of the app, aren't touched. If you think a decision was wrong, the rules say how to ask for it to be looked at again, and you keep your right to take it to court.
Availability
The app is provided as it is. The parts that need the internet (the AI, the weather and a linked sheet) depend on services run by other people, and can stop working or change. Everything else is meant to work offline and keep working even if Plant Vault stops being updated.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer aren't affected. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, Pikeworks isn't liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost plants or lost profit, and any liability is limited to what you've paid for Plant Vault AI in the twelve months before the claim.
Ending it
You can stop using Plant Vault at any time by uninstalling it. I can stop offering the app or the subscription. If I do, any subscription is cancelled and Google refunds anything paid for a period not yet used.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in the EU, you keep the protections of your own local law.
