Common questions

The buttons are in the wrong place for my hands.

Open Settings. Under Controls, Move and resize buttons lets you drag and resize every button, Hands puts the actions on the left for left hands, and Reset button layout puts it all back. You can also make the buttons bigger or fainter there, and move with a stick instead of the left and right buttons.

How do I strike upwards, or drop through a ledge?

Flick the button. Flick Attack up or down to swing that way; a strike downwards bounces off enemies and spikes. Flick Jump down to drop through a ledge. With a stick, push it up or down instead.

When does the game save?

At every shrine, whenever you rest at one, and whenever the phone takes you out of the game, for a call or anything else. Coming back puts you where you were.

I am stuck and do not know where to go.

Find Brother Cask. Once he is back in Lamplight Hollow he will tell you where the light is needed next. The map-maker in the Hollow also sells each area's map.

Can I play with a controller or keyboard?

Yes. Game controllers and keyboards work as well as touch.

My save has gone.

Saves live only on your phone, so uninstalling the game or resetting the phone removes them, and I cannot get one back. A new game on the same phone also replaces the old save, which is why it asks first.

Is there more after the ending?

Yes. New Game+ opens on the title screen once you have finished: the world again, harder, with your relics, blade and embers. There are also secrets that the ending does not need.
